MEET REINY // IN HOME BABY LIFESTYLE SESSION
With recent developments in regards to COVID-19, more and more people are working from home and practicing social distancing. As you can imagine, I have plenty of time on my hands now and thought of some creative ways for me to still photograph at home. Many photographers that I know would typically photograph their children and/or pets at home, but since I do not have any kids or even pets, I had to be creative.
Here’s something that many of you may not know. I have a soft spot for soft toys and I have many of them and I refer to them as my ‘babies’. Majority of them were given to me by family and friends. They are super cute, soft, and cuddly as you can imagine. Throughout the years, the numbers keep on growing and now my hubby has banned me from getting any new ones as he said there’s no more space for them as they are cramped in a corner! whoops, but bless him for humoring me by being part of the mini photoshoot at home.
For my creative idea, I have decided to feature my most recent addition to the family. Apparently the very last addition, she’s number 13! She’s pretty special as she was given to me by mother in law for Christmas. I was gifted with a cute, soft, lovely reindeer from Netherlands and we named her Reiny. She loves to cuddle, loves to read, as well as play with her other siblings. I hope these photos will make you smile or even make you laugh!
So if you are currently at home and need some ideas as to what you can do at home, I hope Reiny is able to inspire you!
Hi, my name is Reiny. I am the last addition to the ever growing Hoogwout family. As a way of introducing me to the world, my mummy did a headshot of me at the convenience of our own home. She loves having some greenery in the background.
What do you think of my headshot?
When I am at home, sometimes I like to sit on the comfy couch and enjoy a good read. Most recently, I have been very interested in adventures around the world and my parents gave me a travel magazine. I really love reading about different countries and see the beautiful pictures in the magazine. As you know, the Hoogwouts love to travel the world, so I may have some suggestions for our next trip.
During sunny days, I like to get my creative juices flowing and decided to try painting. It turns out to be lots of fun as I get to play with different colours and paint different shapes. Mummy had to help me for the first few times and then I got the hang of it and decided to paint different patterns in the shape of a heart. Also, fun fact, it seems that I am a lefty just like my daddy!
When I feel tired and just want to chill and relax, my parents let me watch the kids channel on Netflix! I often fall asleep midway through the cartoons that I watch and my mummy would tuck me in.
Coming from Netherlands, I have to make sure that I don’t forget my language. So I have to continue to practice it here in Sydney as barely anyone speaks Dutch here except for my daddy.
After some time when I don’t speak Dutch, I would sit with my daddy and ask him to help me with my Dutch. Here is a photo of us reading a kid’s Dutch book together. Also, I just love spending time with my daddy.
On sunny days, I like to tan myself a bit. Coming from the Netherlands, it is rare that we have amazing sunny days like in Australia. So I take advantage of it and mummy always reminds me to put sun screen lotion on for extra protection. Plus, mummy said it’s great to get some vitamin D into the body, so why not tan on the balcony!
On other days, I love playing games with my siblings. Since there’s so many of us, we can play heaps of games together. One of the family favourites is to play Scrabble. We had the kids session only the other day and mummy thought it was a cute moment and she took some photos of us playing Scrabble together.
I think we did pretty well with the words, but what do you think? It was a long game so we were pretty tired by the end of it. Also, did you see that someone did something cheeky with the letter ‘Z’?
I love having my daddy work from home these days simply because I get to play more with him and get extra cuddles. It is always great to spend some one-on-one time with daddy especially when I have 12 other siblings at home! I love it when daddy tosses me up in the air and catches me. It is so much fun and we would both have a great laugh. I also love to just cuddle up with my daddy and he would tell me stories about when he was a kid himself. When he sees that I am tired, he would bring me to bed and tuck me in. I am very lucky to have such a loving and caring daddy.
So what do you do at home during social distancing or social isolation? Share with me.
Also, if you have any other ideas for me to do at home, please let me know and I will try my best to recreate it.
Take care and stay safe everyone! Thanks for reading.
